The problem

Cash-on-delivery is popular in Romania, but a refused delivery costs the merchant courier fees both ways and often the goods themselves. Existing tools add friction with SMS or OTP, or only see data from one store.

What we built

CODCheck scores every COD order from 0 to 100 using a shared Romanian anti-fraud network, phone and email validity, order frequency, value and address signals. High-risk buyers see COD hidden at checkout or get held for review. No OTP, no SMS. GDPR-compliant cryptographic fingerprints instead of stored personal data. Shopify billing with Free, $5, $9 and $23 tiers. Real-time analytics and merchant-controlled block/allow lists.

Decisions that mattered

Shared anti-fraud network over store-only data

A single store cannot see enough fraud patterns. A network of Romanian merchants sharing hashed signals makes a new buyer's history visible without exposing personal data.

Hide COD at checkout instead of cancelling orders

Cancelling feels safer but kills a sale that might be real. Hiding the payment method pushes risky buyers to prepay, keeping the order if they convert while stopping the bad ones from choosing COD.

Cryptographic fingerprints over raw personal data

Storing names, phones and addresses would make us a data target and a GDPR headache. One-way hashes let us match buyers across merchants while staying clean and avoiding a data-controller audit.
